Bill Briggs, 87, is regarded as the father of North American extreme skiing, largely on virtue of his first descent of the Grand Teton back in 1971. A living legend, Bill's impact on Jackson's culture is hard to overstate. His descent of the Grand has inspired generations of pilgrims to the Tetons, and while his skiing has slowed down a bit, he still plays a starring role in the community.

Briggs performs with the Stagecoach Band at "Sunday Church" in Wilson to this day, exactly as he has for more than fifty years, as well as hosting the weekly "Hootenanny" open mic at Dornan's. We caught up with Briggs to learn about why he moved to Jackson, and hear a bit about his early years in the area.
