Forget The Olympics, Check Out Norwegian Death Diving

Norwegians have a funny sense of humor. The nation is home some huge mountains, great skiers, and is arguably where death metal started in the early 1990s. Keeping that macabre mood going, today we present you with the 2018 Norwegian Death Diving World Championships. They call it “dødsing,” we call it absolutely nuts. I mean, who else would want to throw themselves off a 10m diving platform and land in the loudest, most painful and least graceful way possible?

Upon a little research, this is actually a popular thing in Norway, and contestants are judged on the following criteria: running speed off the tower, height and strength of the leap, acrobatics and difficulty, style (a death dive should be controlled and easy on the eye), keeping the pose for as long as possible before touchdown, touchdown style, and most importantly, the height of their splash.
