Watch: 1500 Mountain Bikers Race Down A Glacier

Every year, hundreds of mountain bikers descend on the legendary Megavalanche course in the French Alps to compete in a mass start downhill race. The course starts at 11,000 feet, high on Alpe D’Huez’s Pic Blanc, before descending nearly 9000 feet back to the valley floor over glaciers, snow, and gnarly singletrack. The race takes endurance, incredible bike handling skills, and a whole lot of luck to finish.

This year’s winner was EWS racer Damien Oton, with a time of 38:55. Check out his POV angle from the start.
