VIDEO: North Shore Betty Is the Sendiest 73-Year-Old You’ll Meet

“I’m too old for that” can be a pretty common excuse…but not for Betty Birrell. The 73-year-old mountain biker still thinks that life is one big playground - and that you’re never too old to send. After pioneering women’s freestyle windsurfing in Hawaii in the 1980’s, Betty started riding her bike back home in Canada at age 45, joining a crew of riders who pushed the limits of what was possible on two wheels on Vancouver’s North Shore. Patagonia’s newest short film explores Betty’s story and serves as an inspiration for any of us to just go get out and ride.
