VIDEO: John Collinson Speaks Out About Mental Health During His Injury Recovery

In case you’re wondering why you haven’t seen all too much of Johnny Collinson skiing these last few years, it’s due to a series of serious knee injuries he sustained back-to-back that forced him to take some time away from snow. Throughout his recovery, he leaned on cross-training, cycling, and working on his mental game. Always known for his positive outlook, Collinson isn’t one to shy away from the mental blow injury can have. When asked about his most recent injury, Johnny said, “Staying positive through injury for me has been important. Nobody chooses to have these accidents, but once they happen, it alters your reality, so it was important for me to accept that reality & move forward. A big piece of moving forward is choosing to grow through the injury- with the mindset that they don't make you less of an athlete or human, and they can make you a better one.” Learn more about his process in Pinarello’s latest film Edge of Darkness, where he joins ultrarunner Hillary Allen as they dive deep into athletic mindset during recovery from severe injury.
