Video: Behind the Scenes of Danny MacAskill’s ‘Wee Day Out’

The first time I saw Danny McAskill was back in April 2009, when Inspired Bicycles dropped an edit featuring MacAskill biking around Edinburgh. Set to Band of Horses' mid-2000s smash-hit "The Funeral," it remains one of my favorite bike edits of all time. In the decade since, he's switched bike sponsors, earned himself a Red Bull helmet, and released a string of viral videos totaling hundreds of millions of views.

MacAskill's skill on a bike is undeniable, but it's creativity that sets his edits apart. Whether he's doing flips with a bike trailer in tow or riding atop a rolling hay bale, a lot of thought and planning goes into each stunt, as is made clear in this behind-the-scenes look at the making of MacAskill's Wee Day Out.
