Behind The Scenes Of Sweetgrass’ Awe-Inspiring Night Bike Shoot

Sweetgrass Production's devotion to progressive imagery in action sports films is truly unmatched. In Darklight, they take us on an epic exploration of light and color amidst the awe-inspiring moonscapes of Southern Utah and the Ewok forests of the Pacific Northwest. Graham Agassiz, Matt Hunter and Matty Miles rip through trails, deserts, and jump lines, only leaving trails of florescent dust in their paths.

This piece was shot only during the darkest midnight hours over three intense weeks in order to produce the majestic bright glow in contrast with the dark nightscape. In the early months of 2015, Sweetgrass assembled a crew of 27 and over 15,000 pounds of lighting equipment to four states across the Western U.S.

Take a look at the behind the scenes footage and the struggles endured–106º temps while building features, rattle snake bites, weeks of nocturnal living, and the logistics of keeping 178 light fixtures running throughout the night. Check out the full Darklight film here.
