What it Takes to Set a Speed Record on The Nose

The short film, Women’s Speed Ascent, follows the adventure of Mayan Smith-Gobat and Libby Sauter, two climbers who are the epitome of badass. In 2014, the duo arrived in Yosemite Valley with one clear intent: to take the women’s speed record on The Nose. With a climb of five hours and 39 minutes, they decimated the previous standing time of 12 hours and 15 minutes. Mind you, that was just their first attempt. They continued to revisit the Nose, and each new ascent shaved off more and more minutes. They ultimately topped out at four hours and 43 minutes.
