The Boise Whitewater Park is an excellent example of the cool things which can be done with repurposed dams. Engineers modified the existing Thurman Mill Diversion Dam to create an adjustable water feature which can accommodate river surfers or kayakers, depending on flow rates. The wave is part of an ongoing initiative to build a world-class whitewater park in the midst of downtown Boise.
