Mount Stromboli, a volcanic island north of Sicily, is commonly known as the "Lighthouse of the Mediterranean" due to its almost-constant eruptions. Most eruptions are quite minor, resulting in harmless lava-flows and small ash clouds. However, on Wednesday, August 28th, there was an abnormally large eruption which resulted in a dramatic ash cloud and started small fires on the island, according to the Associated Press.

Luckily, there have been no injuries reported in the wake of the eruption, though the boaters in the above video seem understandably concerned as a massive ash cloud rolls towards them.
