Video: Taos Woman Rescued After Avalanche Damages Home

These days, it seems like very few places are safe from avalanches. Whether you're skiing inbounds, driving on a major highway, or even just watching TV at home, they're an almost omnipresent danger in snowier regions.  Taos Ski Valley, NM has already dealt with an avalanche-related tragedy this year, providing a stark contrast to this successful rescue.

According to a spokesman for the ski area, this avalanche reportedly crossed three lanes of traffic before crashing into the occupied home. Rescue personnel quickly extracted the home's occupant and deployed avalanche dogs to ensure that no one else was buried.
