Ski season is nigh, but there's at least one more bike event that deserves our full and undivided attention: Red Bull Rampage. As the highest-profile event on the FMB World Tour, if not the entire action sports industry, it requires no introduction. However, for the same reason that the Queen of England's titles and styles are read wherever she goes, we'll give Rampage a proper introduction:
Red Bull Rampage is an annual freeride mountain biking event held in southern Utah. The invitation-only event attracts the who's-who of mountain bikers, who spent the days leading up to the event carving lines out of the venue's sheer rock and dirt. Features tend towards monstrous, as opposed to merely large, with certain-death exposure as a given. Nonetheless, riders still push their limits, attempting difficult tricks off, for example, a 50-foot cliff, or over a massive canyon gap. The many crashes are terrifying, but the few clean runs are unlike anything else in the world of competitive mountain biking:
