VIDEO: Nathan Florence’s POV from a Day at Pipeline

Watching videos of Nathan Florence, it's clear that he's a talented surfer. He'd have to be to take on monstrous breaks like Jaws and Teahupo'o, as should be obvious to anyone who's seen either wave. However, there's more to being a great surfer than wave-catching ability, and this POV video drives home all of the little things which separate good surfers from great surfers.

One could probably point out dozens of little skills and tricks in this video, but those which most struck me had little to do with the actual act of riding a wave on a surfboard. For example, Nate's ability to duck dive quickly and deeply means that he'll never get in the way of another surfer riding a wave, and his ability to shake off big hits and paddle back out to the break is almost supernatural.
