Video: Lindsey Vonn Talks Boot Science

Ask just about any professional skier about their most important piece of gear and you'll hear about their ski boots. Lindsey Vonn is no exception, and she clearly has a lot to say about boot science.  While the degree of attention that goes into her boots is likely overkill for most of us, it's still interesting to get a glimpse at what is, in essence, the most complicated shoe-fitting in the world.

If it's not apparent from the video, bootfitting is a complex and delicate science essential for ski racers' success. However, not just top-level athletes can benefit from well-fitted boots. Even a novice skier will learn faster and have a more enjoyable time in boots which don't feel like medieval torture devices. Simply getting a custom footbed or a molded liner can make a world of difference.
