Video: Learn How to Swerve with Magnus Graner

In recent years, a new style of skiing has busted onto the scene. Championed by crews like The Bunch, "swerve skiing" is hot. So, how does one hop on the swerve-train? There are a few easy steps which we will detail for you, our dear readers:

Step 1: Stop taking yourself so seriously. Skiing is fun. You're sliding around on waxy planks, not calculating a rocket's trajectory to Venus. The soul of swerve is messing around and experimenting, so you'll have to leave your ego in the parking lot. A lot of stuff is going to look silly, so you might as well embrace it.

Step 2: Dress the part. Swerve skiing was pioneered by thick-skinned Scandinavians more likely to wear a ratty hoodie and track pants than next year's Arc'teryx, so cruise on over to your local thrift shop and go wild.

Step 4: Lose your poles. They'll just get in the way. Plus, have you heard of Skier's Thumb? Scary stuff.

Step 5: Practice the "Jump-Swoop-Swerve." As Magnus says, it's the perfect trick to get comfortable with fully utilizing your tips and tails—a very important aspect of the style.

Step 6: Swerve it out. Once you're properly dressed, nourished, and in the correct mindset, the next step is simple: Go skiing. There isn't a well-defined list of tricks that constitute swerving, but if you're feeling stumped just check out Magnus' Instagram
