VIDEO: Kamali – A 7-Year-Old Skateboard Phenom From India

Growing up in a tiny fishing village on the coast of India, Kamali’s life was supposed to take a very different path. But instead of staying locked inside and getting married away at a young age, Kamali turned her life to skateboarding. After her mother left an abusive husband, Kamali’s mother found a new lease on life and urged her young daughter to follow her own dreams, and that’s exactly what she does.

In filmmaker Sasha Rainbow’s BAFTA and Oscar-nominated short Kamali, watch the young skateboarder’s story unfold. It’s an inspiring, even empowering, piece, and it features some damn good skateboarding.
