VIDEO: Is a 2006 DH Bike Faster Than A 2021 Bike?

Legendary World Cup DH racer Steve Peat had a question he wanted to answer. After dusting off his race-winning 2006 Santa Cruz V10 (with 26-inch wheels, alloy frame, narrow bars, and a super-tiny wheelbase) he wanted to know how fast it would compare to his modern 2021 V10. How different would it feel on track? Would the small wheels be an advantage in some scenarios? Or would it be a sketchy, janky ride that falls apart halfway down the run? Peat headed to Morzine’s famous Le Pleney DH track to test the bikes back-to-back. You might be surprised at the results!
