Big wave surfer Ian Walsh and big mountain snowboarder Elena Hight might know a thing or two about surviving in the elements, but one thing they had never done before was hop aboard a racing yacht to sail from Newport, Rhode Island to Bermuda. Joining the 11^th Hour Racing Team wasn’t just a pleasure cruise – it was about covering 635 nautical miles as fast as possible. Take a look at what Elena and Ian learned about transoceanic sailing on one of the bumpiest rides of their lives inside of what Ian dubbed a “carbon missile.” The team ended up placing second overall and first in the open division of the 2022 Newport Bermuda race.
