The U.S. Slopestyle team had plenty to celebrate in Calgary this weekend as rookie Oliver Martin secured his first-ever FIS World Cup win at the Snow Rodeo. Martin stomped his final run, capping it off with a massive double cork 1440, earning him a score of 80.60. His teammate, Olympic gold medalist Red Gerard, was the only rider to come close, finishing second on the podium.

“It feels amazing—I couldn’t be happier,” Martin told U.S. Ski and Snowboard. “I wasn’t expecting to do this well in such a stacked field, but I’m so proud of my riding. Waiting for the rest of the field to drop was stressful—everyone is so good—but I’m just stoked to be on the podium. And to take the win? Even better. Super cool to share it with Red, too.”

Nine riders, including U.S. teammates Fynn Bullock, Judd Henkes, Sean FitzSimons, Jake Canter, and Dusty Henricksen, had the potential to bump Martin from the top spot. But his 80.60 and Gerard’s 78.63 held firm, locking in a 1-2 finish for Team USA. Norway’s Markus Kleveland rounded out the podium in third.

On the women’s side, Japan’s Mari Fukada clinched the top spot with a score of 77.58. Germany’s Annika Morgan put down a technical and creative run, stacking a switch boardslide pretzel, boardslide 270, and a gap to boardslide pretzel through the kink rail before sending a cab double underflip 900, backside 1080, and frontside 360. That earned her a 76.30 and her first podium of the season.

“So, so, so stoked on this one,” Morgan wrote on Instagram. “Had so much fun riding this course—congrats to all the girlies. Muchas gracias, Calgary. On to the next one in Absolutpark Flachauwinkl.”

Meanwhile, Mia Brookes rounded out the podium in third, dropping a run packed with multiple frontside boardslide pretzels, a switch backside boardslide, plus a mix of 900s and a 360. Her 74.08-point performance was enough to push her just ahead of Kokomo Murase in the overall FIS women’s slopestyle rankings.

We're stoked to see how the rest of the season pans out!
