Avalanche Mitigation Work Leads to Big Cheers in Downtown Telluride

On Thursday, a helicopter dropped bombs on Ajax Peak, deliberately inducing two massive slides as seen in this video taken from downtown Telluride, CO. The town gathered to share their excitement and watch the avalanche from a safe distance.

Telluride has had more than 200 inches of snow this year, 95 of that in the month of January alone. Proper safety precautions were taken to control the zone.
