Amy David Adventure Trip Report Pinedale Wyoming
Popular Stories
After saying goodbye to Tami and Veronica the next morning, I hopped in my truck and headed south down Hoback Canyon to my hometown of Pinedale. Recently, I've been exploring parts of Pinedale in new ways than when I was a kid. I learned how to mountain bike in my early 20's, so riding the newly developed mountain bike trails has been a refreshing way to experience the place I grew up.

Elk Chase is a fun flow trail which descends from the wilderness boundary of the Wind River Mountains down to White Pine Ski Area - the tiny hill I grew up skiing on! With views of the Wind Rivers after the first climb, followed by glimpses of Fremont Lake with the Wyoming Range in the distance, this trail is a perfect welcome home.

To top off the weekend adventure, I stopped by my dad's restaurant, Pitchfork Fondue Western Cookout. It's located at the Pinedale Rodeo Grounds with outdoor seating and views of the Winds. He cooks steak, chicken, and trout on the tines of a pitchfork in a cauldron of hot oil heated by a wood fire. My dad's family homesteaded in Pinedale and cooked for many guests on horse pack trips, so it's a real authentic experience with deep roots. It's BYOB, so we cracked a cold Sierra Nevada pale ale and played a few rounds of corn hole before digging into a hearty meal.
