Today is a Big Day in Action Sports: Rampage and Jaws Are Live

Today, Oct 27, 2017 is one big day for action sports. Two of the world’s gnarliest competitions are being held today: Freeride mountain biking’s Red Bull Rampage in southern Utah and the first day of big wave surfing’s Pe’ahi (Jaws) Challenge in Maui.

After some big crashes and some of the biggest sends ever seen on a bike in practice, 18 riders are gearing up for their finals runs in Virgin, Utah. Competitors Brandon Semenuk, Kyle Strait and Kurt Sorge have both won the event twice, will one manage the hat trick?

With an incoming swell predicted to produce 45-foot waves, the WSL greenlit the Pe’ahi Challenge. This will pit a stacked lineup of the best surfers in the world against each other on these massive waves. Local Billy Kemper has won the event for two years running, and will attempt to make it a third year in a row.
