

Three Ski Industry Veterans Lost in Avalanche Near Kaslo, B.C.

A devastating avalanche in British Columbia’s Kootenay Mountains on Monday, March 24, claimed the lives of three respected figures in the ski and snowboard community.
The victims have been identified as Alex Pashley, Jeff Keenan, and Jason Remple. A fourth individual, a 40-year-old man from Nelson, remains in critical condition.
Tributes have been pouring in for Keenan, Pashley, and Remple, all of whom left an indelible mark on the industry. Keenan, 44, co-founded Dinosaurs Will Die, a rider-driven snowboard brand. Pashley, 45, was the global sports marketing manager at The North Face.

Jason Remple, a longtime friend of the TGR community, was the founder and lead guide at Stellar Heli Skiing. His passion for the mountains and dedication to guiding made him a legend in the backcountry. In 2005, he and his wife, Kerry Luckey, launched Stellar, and in 2022, they expanded their deep ties to Kaslo by purchasing and running the Kaslo Hotel.
