Nazaré, Portugal…where big-wave surfing dreams are either made, or broken (very violently). It takes a small amount of madness to drop in on these monster waves, but it must take a certifiable lunatic to try to walk a highline over them.

Joshua Leopolz, a 26-year old German slackliner, did just that, rigging a 100-foot highline between two rocks during a winter storm and one of the biggest swells of the season. Walking a highline is hard anywhere, but getting continuously pounded by walls over water makes it near impossible. Leopolz reports he managed to cross the line three times.
