These Guys Descended 17,000 feet on Their Bikes In Ecuador

Eric Porter and Mason Mashon decided to follow their dream to Ecuador and ride one of the biggest continuous descents possible on a bike – 17,000 feet from the flanks of Chimborazo all the way to the ocean. The descent brought them through a whole range of ecosystems and cultures, from the high mountain through urban areas, and finally to the coast.

As part of the journey, they wanted to honor the local tradition of the ice merchants that would carry ice from the glaciers atop the mountain to markets in the flatlands, and carried a thermos full of ice to the beach – where they enjoyed some local spirits on ice.
