In the world of sports, skiing and snowboarding are unique in the sense that–with a little bit of luck and injury avoidance–you can theoretically practice them from the moment you learn to walk until the moment you can no longer stand. While other sports can inflict massive tolls on the human body, the pure feeling of gliding on untouched snow is something akin to floating weightless through the world. In many ways, the gift of teaching someone to ski or snowboard isn't a momentary lesson in outdoor recreation: It is a lifelong gift.
And Patagonia wants to encourage you to pass on that lifelong gift to future generations, by introducing you to Mac Anderson, the son of former semi-pro snowboarder Kyle Anderson.
Mac is Kyle's three-year-old son who is already enjoying his third year on a snowboard in beautiful Crested Butte, Colorado. And, beyond riding on a snowboard slightly larger than his body, Mac has continued an Anderson condition by learning to ski in a jacket that has been passed down through generations of Andersons for the past 12 or 13 years.

The stories that are woven into the fibers of that tiny red puffy–from its debut as the jacket that Kyle's younger brother Huck learned to ride in to it becoming the outerwear of choice for little Mac–have leant a sentimental quality to the outerwear. And it's that sentimental attachment that Patagonia wants to achieve with its Worn Wear and Extended Play campaigns.
So don't just pass on your love of snowboarding to future generations; pass on your old gear as well. They'll thank you for it.
