The Fifty Ep. 5 – Cody Townsend Cruxes on Mt. Currie

Ski mountaineering isn’t all just fun and games, even when you’re pro skier Cody Townsend. For the latest installment of his ongoing project The Fifty, Townsend teamed up with Pemberton local Chris Rubens to conquer one of the headier lines in the book – Mt. Currie. After scoping the line for several days, realizing their initial intended route up was far too dangerous due to overhanging cornices up high, they changed plans and forged a new and much harder route up the peak.

After fighting their way up the mountain with all their worth, the team reached the top their initial fears proved real, forcing them to ski their alternate line in the fading light. Conditions? Er…variable.
