Anyone who’s ever skied at Alta or Snowbird has stared up at the massive face right across the valley – Mount Superior – and probably thought “man, I’d love to put some tracks on that.” Cody Townsend chose that exact line for Number 2 of his project The Fifty, where he’s ticking off every line in the book 50 Classic Ski Descents Of North America.
As a pro skier, Townsend knows how to evaluate conditions in the mountains to make sure a line is safe to ski. Arriving in Utah after a long drive from his home near Lake Tahoe, Townsend links up with his team only to find sketchy avalanche conditions thanks to Utah’s recent heavy snowfall. The waiting game pays off, and when they drop in, it’s one dreamy pow turn after another. We’re pretty jealous and stoked on what’s to come from Townsend.
