The Fifty 43/50 – Cody Townsend’s Last Classic Descent of the Season

Not even 24 hours after skiing the Skyladder, Cody decided to take advantage of the weather window and hiked a quick marathon up to the top of Mt. Columbia in Alberta, Canada. This climb gains more than 8,000 feet over 26 miles and requires a 10-mile hike on the descent; literally uphill both ways. Quite the leg burner to say the least. And on top of the physical challenge that this climb is, Cody and his crew finished the last third of it in complete whiteout conditions. But all is well that ends well, and after the 14 hour round trip was done, Cody and Taylor celebrated with a heavy pour of Tin Cup whiskey chilled by hand sawed glacier ice.
