Who are you?

JJ: John Jackson, living in Verdi NV. I forget my age every winter but I think it’s something like 41.

Most memorable line/trick you dropped or stomped in this film?

JJ: My days filming were limited, but I remember pushing for this small-medium sized face in Wyoming one morning. It had some perfect one offs and sniper trannies. First line, bright and early I looked at this little transfer but the runout was pretty dirty…. Sniper landing, bit of a pit afterward with a pillow and some trees to needle through. There was also a dead tree sticking out that cock blocked the trajectory a bit. I decided to half cab it because I could graze the dead tree with my back. I pretty much went right were I wanted and was able to stomp right into the pillow and go over the little sapling (which I wanted to go around). Luckily I just tail tapped the tip but it was abrasive enough I almost punched myself in the face. Instead I hit the Gopro and knocked it upward so it’s kind of a funny angle. It always feels good to stomp one like this first thing in the morning.

Run us through your gear. Any hacks or must-have travel items?

JJ: Sims quiver including the Macrodose, Nub, and ATVX. Avy backback all the time and all other backcountry essentials. First aid kit, saw, toolkit.

What's your ritual before dropping a big line?

JJ: In Ak I usually keep a little bamboo side blown flute in my backpack. It’s nice to be up there alone for a moment trying to tame the dragon. It’s hard to play so you have to have a real calm steady breath and it usually slows my heart rate.

How does filming with TGR compare to a normal ski/ride day with friends?

JJ: Well I’ve never filmed with a ski crew so this was a first. I actually really liked it because it was rad to observe the line choices of the boys and see how different these tools are. I remember chatting with Kai on this pillow face and noticing his line control on certain things that were steep with no space in between were things I would never try. I would need to point and hope for the best.

Who or what inspired you most on this trip?

JJ: Brad Holmes rap game and endurance to go out every day with pneumonia. Parkin’s insanity sledding and bombing massive lines with exposure. Kai’s ninja skills and ability to backflip into anything, even if it’s only 3 feet of airtime.

One word to describe Pressure Drop?

JJ: I haven’t chimped on it much so don’t know, good name though.
