Hey skiers & snowboarders! Crystal Wright here from Wright Training here in Jackson Hole. This is the fifth installment of our nine-part TGR Ski & Snowboard Training Camp, which will get in you killer shape to crush the slopes this winter with minimal equipment and gym experience. Today we'll be focusing on the Square Drill, a drill you might remember from middle school soccer and which trains your quickness and agility in order to improve your ability to make rapid successive movements on the hill this winter. Here's how to do it:
Find a soft surface–even grass will do–and four cones or markers to mark off a square that's roughly 15 feet by 15 feet.
Facing the same direction the whole time, you will sprint forward, right, back, and finally left to the starting cone or marker. Focus on quickness and agility, and don't stop between laps.
When you reach down for the cone or marker at each corner, don't bend over; drop your butt like you're going into a squat and reach for the marker without bending over.

As you get more tired, the temptation will be to starting bending over–stay disciplined and keep your squat form, dropping with your weight on your heels as you reach for the cone.
Go 30 seconds on, then 30 seconds of rest, for 5 to 10 rotations.
