TGR Olympic Profile: Chloe Kim

With two Olympic gold medals already secured, Chloe Kim enters Milan-Cortina chasing history and continued halfpipe dominance.

The Olympic Games bring the world’s best to the snow, but the stories behind their runs are just as compelling as the medals they chase. Teton Gravity Research profiles the athletes who define their sports: skiers, snowboarders, and freestyle competitors pushing the limits of speed, amplitude, and creativity. From career milestones and World Cup victories to signature styles and unforgettable Olympic moments, this series gives fans an inside look at the competitors shaping the future of winter sports.

Chloe Kim is Keeping Her Cool in Milan

With two Olympic gold medals already under her belt, Chloe Kim says the pressure is different this time around. In Milan-Cortina, she just wants to soak it all in.

At 17, she dominated the 2018 PyeongChang Games, becoming the youngest woman to win Olympic gold in snowboarding and the first to land back-to-back 1080s in Olympic competition. The performance was a powerful statement. Kim was a force to be reckoned with.

Four years later in Beijing, the world wondered: would Kim be able to deliver again? Under the pressure of being the defending champ, she answered emphatically, locking down a second straight Olympic gold.

Since Beijing, Kim's status as one of the world's supreme snowboarders is beyond contention. Her runs are defined by huge amplitude and seemingly effortless control, something that judges reward and spectators love.

As the 2026 Olympics kick off this month, Kim stands in a rare position. She’s already one of the most accomplished halfpipe riders in history, yet at 25, she’s still in her competitive prime. If she wins again, she'll be the first athlete to win three consecutive gold medals in women's snowboard halfpipe. Please note: the win would be a mere extension of her record. She's already the only woman to win the halfpipe event twice in a row.

We can't wait to see what she'll throw down this time around.
