Teton Gravity Research athletes Kirsty Muir and Troy Podmilsak kicked off the 2025/26 Freeski Big Air World Cup season with an explosive display of skill in Secret Garden, China. Both skiers, featured in TGR's 30th annual film Pressure Drop, secured their first-ever World Cup victories in the Big Air discipline. This monumental dual win puts the Pressure Drop crew in the global spotlight for competitive freeskiing.
Podmilsak Lands a World Cup First
For Troy Podmilsak, the victory in Secret Garden marked a major career milestone. The 2023 Big Air World Champion finally claimed his first-ever World Cup victory. Podmilsak threw down two massive, high-scoring runs to secure the top spot with a combined score of 185.5.
His run included a switch right triple 1980 with a safety grab. He then followed up by stomping his signature right triple 2160 with a mute grab, a trick he premiered at the 2023 World Championships. Troy’s ability to combine technical complexity with powerful amplitude is astonishing. In short, this performance showcased the dialed focus and talent that TGR recognized in the Grand Targhee Park Segment.

Muir's Dominant Season Opener
Kirsty Muir’s performance was equally dominant, proving she is a major force in women’s freeskiing. Muir topped the women's final with a score of 174.5. Furthermore, she ended her last World Cup season with a victory and has now started the new season in the same winning fashion. The Scottish skier was focused on her tricks, which paid off in a big way.
Muir put down a near-flawless left double cork 1440 safety grab in her first run. This trick was the highest-scoring single trick of the women’s final. She then locked in the victory with a stylish right double cork 1080 mute. This showcase of pure athleticism and creativity is exactly why Muir was featured in the Pressure Drop segment alongside Podmilsak. She continues to redefine what is possible in the sport, making every jump a masterclass in airtime and style.
The Pressure Drop Effect
The wins for Muir and Podmilsak highlight the caliber of athletes featured in TGR films. Pressure Drop captures that fleeting space between calm and chaos—when the mountain demands everything. These World Cup victories are proof that TGR athletes operate at the very peak of their discipline. The skill, control, and sheer cojones required for competitive Big Air translate directly to the steep and exposed lines of the backcountry that TGR is known for. Consequently, we can look forward to more high-stakes moments from these two athletes as the season progresses.
