Twice a year, Teton County Search and Rescue releases a report chock-full of statistics and brief incident reports. Whether or not you spend time in the Tetons, the report is an interesting glimpse into what happens when things go wrong in the mountains.

The gender balance this past winter was exactly average, but the activity breakdown was slightly skewed due to more snowmobile and XC skiing-related incidents.

Winter 2019 had the least fatalities of the past five years, despite several periods of highly-unstable snowpack. It's hard to draw conclusions regarding incidents by day of the week, but it is interesting that there wasn't a single Sunday incident this year.
