Spring skiing came late to Chamonix this year, but the gang of skiers that makes the place what it is were happy to wait. After several big spring storms blanketed the high mountains with a healthy coat of powder, locals Leo Slemett and Pierre Guyot dropped into an absolute classic of a line right off the top of the Aiguille du Midi – the Cosmiques Couloir. Sidestepping down what is normally rappelled, the two mountain goats score the steep couloir in near-perfect conditions with a huge group of friends. Is this the stuff of dreams, or is this real life?
