From Bozeman Daily Chronicle:
A 22-year-old man died in an avalanche on the west side of the Bridger Mountains Monday afternoon.
Caleb Acker, a Montana State University student, was snowboarding when he triggered an avalanche and was buried in more than five feet of snow, Gallatin County authorities said.
Acker was a senior environmental design student at MSU, according to the university's website.

The caller said his friend was buried in the slide and that he was searching for him with his avalanche beacon. The two had hiked up from the Springhill area with a dog. Neither the caller nor the dog was injured. The two men were equipped with the proper gear, and one at a time had gone down the chute from the ridge on the opposite side of Bridger Bowl's Pierre's Knob, said Gallatin County Lt. Jason Jarrett.
