Kings and Queens of Corbet’s Start List

There likely isn’t a more recognizable ski run in North America than Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s infamous Corbet’s Couloir. What better place than to hold a unique big mountain freeride competition than here? Enter Kings and Queens of Corbet’s, now going into its sophomore year with a stacked line up of both big names like Travis Rice and up-and-comers. The weather window for the competition opens up this Sunday February 10th.

Who you should be keeping your eyes on:

Caite Zeliff:

Caite was born and raised in the White Mountains of New Hampshire where she fell in love with the sport of skiing. At 12 Caite started a ski racing career that brought her all over the world taking part in the FIS and NorAm Circuits. After retiring from racing Division 1 at the University of New Hampshire Caite headed to Jackson, Wyoming to chase a dream of skiing big mountain lines and deep snow. She fell in love with the creativity of free skiing and has since taken part in events like The Rhalves Banzai Tour, Freeride World Qualifying events, King & Queens of Corbet's and any form of free skiing she can get her hands on. She is looking forward to entering the world of mountaineering while continuing to push the boundaries of skiing by working on her ability to grease giant airs and big lines all over the world while sharing it with the people she loves.

Karl Fostvedt:

Karl was born and raised in Sun Valley Idaho where he got the nickname Crazy Karl at age 7. His hero growing up was Tommy Moe and he always tried to live up to his motto of "Go Fast and Take Chances." That surely helped him gain the crown as the current King of Corbet’s. Karl now skis backcountry full time and spends his winters chasing storms and filming deep pow. In the last few seasons, Karl has filmed with Poor Boyz Productions, Teton Gravity Research, Sweetgrass Productions, Toy Soldier Productions, 4bi9, Good Company.

Travis’s career spans the gap from international podiums to making the three of the biggest snowboard films of all time, "That’s It, That’s All" and "The Art of Flight", and "The Fourth Phase". Travis has made a living traveling the globe in search of snowboard adventure but has always called Jackson Hole home. This year, he’s already won the Freeride World Tour in Hakuba with a record score.

Teton Brown:

Tristan “Teton” Brown was raised in the scenic mountains of Sun Valley, ID by a rabid pack of talking wolves known as the Brown family. With the help of his wolf pack and a healthy diet of ski racing and elk meat, Teton survived adolescence and made it to adulthood. After pursuing ski racing for 13 years, he switched his focus to freeskiing and big mountain competitions while studying Environmental Science at CU Boulder. After college, the allure of challenging terrain and deep powder brought Teton to the Tetons, where he spent three winters earning what he calls a graduate degree in big mountain skiing. These days, he spends the majority of his time outdoors, and gets to ski every day until his legs are Jell-O. Teton also tries to stay mindful of his ecological footprint, and occasionally howls at the moon in an attempt to make it snow.

Who knows, maybe Brown will land that double he attempted last year?
