Now Is A Great Time To Donate To Your Local Avalanche Center

Avalanche centers across the country work very hard to keep us safe from these, and they need your help this winter. Max Ritter photo.

Do you like playing in the backcountry all winter long? Do you check your local avalanche forecast every morning? Do you know how underfunded most avalanche centers are? Well, now is a great time to donate to your local forecast center, and help support their ongoing work to keep you, your friends, and the infrastructure we all take for granted safe. By all measures, this winter is going to be a weird one with record numbers of travelers likely to be underway in the mountains. That means the data and predictions avalanche forecasters are putting out this winter will be extra important to keep us all safe. Most centers in North America are non-profit or charity organizations that are barely making ends meet, and are all asking for help.
