The base of Mammoth yesterday! Mammoth photo.

Mammoth is currently in the midst of a major storm system, which as already dropped three feet of snow of the summit of the mountain. With more flakes on the way the resort is moving its opening day up a week to tomorrow. This will make Mammoth one of the first resorts to open in California. Mt. Rose will claim that honor, with one trail open today and only a $10 ticket to ride the white magic carpet.

In addition to natural snow, the low temps will mean man made snow to complete the coverage. At present, Chairs 1 and 3 will be spinning for opening day, but with additional snow it's possible that we'll be adding terrain. Lift tickets for opening day will be $50 and can be purchased at any ticket window.
