After decades of nurturing the heartbeat of Aspen’s rich local ski culture, the Skier’s Chalet has been bought out by developers and is to be converted into a $200 million luxury housing complex… I guess nothing is sacred if it means more money in the big man’s pockets.

For decades, the most dedicated aspen locals skiers have called the Chalet home. The classic ski lodge was once a hotel but has been a permanent residency for generations of skiers and boarders to take advantage of the affordable rent and prime location to maximize their winter gnar.

It truly is a sad sight watching the classic establishments of our favorite mountains get brushed aside for the purpose of fancifying the resort side of things in the area. But, alas, such is a fact of life. The only constant is change, and there is no stopping progress. We wish the best to all the current residents of the Chalet that they will land on their feet without their lovely home on the mountain.
