TGR’s Launches Second Annual Grom Contest

February 14, 2011

Teton Village, Wyoming - Teton Gravity Research is proud to announce the launch of its Second Annual Grom Contest, which is open to both skiers and snowboarders 17 years of age and younger. Participants may submit up to one video edit each month between now and July 3, 2011. Videos may be up to 3 minutes in length and should showcase participant's riding talents on the mountain. At the end of the contest, a panel of TGR athletes and producers will select two First Place Winners (one from each sport), one of whom will be chosen as the Grand Prize winner. Edited versions of the First Place Winners' videos will be shown before every One For The Road premiere during TGR's 2011 movie tour and the Grand Prize winner will be invited to film with TGR for their 2012 film. Additionally, each month's best video as determined by TGR will win a GoPro HD Helmet Hero for the contest's full duration.

TGR's Launches Second Annual Grom Contest

“People are always asking how they get to be in a TGR film. We look at edits, competition results, and recommendations from other athletes and industry sources to determine who is getting it done. We tend to throw the most weight at video, since it really showcases a person’s talent. We thought that hosting a video submission contest would be a cool way to give young riders a chance to showcase their talent to TGR's expansive audience,” says Todd Jones, co-producer of over 28 action sports films for TGR.

Skiers and Snowboarders may visit the contest site at TetonGravity.com to view other submissions and upload up to one videos each month. Submissions will be accepted through July 3, 2011. Videos will be judged based on the quality of riding and talent. Music, filming and editing will not be a main judging criteria, although a tight edit with good filming will certainly influence the judges. Multiple submissions are not required, but may help the judges to get to know you better. Facebook "Likes" and voting will not influence judging but may help increase the visibility of your videos. Judges will tentatively include Jeremy Jones, Sammy Carlson and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa.

Nearly 40 groms entered last year's contest and Minnesota's Wille Borm eventually reigned supreme. Check out his re-edit that was screened before 2010's Light The Wick movie premieres below.
