On Saturday, KGB Productions premiered its new Wyoming-based ski movie “Wyoming Triumph,” a two-year project, to an oversold crowd at the Pink Garter Theater in Jackson, Wyoming.
Before the premiere, the premise of the shred flick seemed simple enough. To many, Wyoming skiing is confined to the Tetons — like on the iconic logo of this site. But there are a lot of mountains in Wyoming — really big ranges, in fact — that offer stellar skiing. So KGB Productions thought, “Why not go check them out?”
The catch? The other ranges just don’t hand out the goods on a platter.
Undeterred, the KGB crew bought a bunch of maps, loaded up the sleds, touring gear, winter camping gear and took to the road to see what else the least populated state in the Union has to offer. Forget travelling to the ends of the Earth for adventure, KGB found epic first descents and deep snow just down the road.
The audience gets pulled into the story of fierce determination, long days, cold river crossings, winter camping, misery, failure, followed by success, good times, and yes — triumph.
From big mountain skiing to jib fests on ranch fences, with plenty of humorous footage of Wyoming’s wildlife — the story of exploration flows.

The notoriously hard-to-please Jackson Hole audience showed their appreciation with repeated choruses of cheers, and an oversold audience lined the sides of the Pink Garter Theatre, many standing for the whole premiere.
Many core Jackson skiers and snowboarders were in attendance and stuck around for the after party to congratulate the crew.
“People seem to like it, so we’re pretty happy,” said KGB’s Sam Pope. “We didn’t plan on making this a two-year project, but we knew that we wanted to a release the movie when it was finished. We just knew when it was.”
Even Teton Gravity Research founder Steve Jones was stoked on KGB’s final product.
“This movie, you could tell it came from the soul,” Jones said. “It was awesome. That was pure skiing, and that was pure Wyoming. I loved it.”
