Two snowboarders died last week at Mt. Hood Meadows, Oregon in the Heather Canyon area. 45-year-old Ryan Zeitner of Portland died after a fall on Sunday, February 16th according to the Hood River County Sheriff's Office.
47-year-old Tim Bauters of Sunnyvale, California was reported missing by his family on Monday, February 17th. After determining that his rental car was in the Mt. Hood Meadows parking lot, local emergency personnel worked with resort staff to locate his body, also in the Heather Canyon area. His cause of death has not been reported.

The Heather Canyon area is a gate-accessed zone with some of the resort's most extreme terrain. The area is not regularly patrolled, and the resort recommends that those skiing or riding there bring a partner and carry avalanche safety gear.
