TGR Remembers Tony Birkholz

Yesterday TGR lost one of its own in Tony Birkholz. Tony was a fierce, devoted friend, a talented creative, and a passionate conservationist. Tony was infectious to be around, with a smile and laugh that acted as gravity, pulling all those around him closer.

Tony has been a staple in Teton Valley for the past ten years, leaving the mountains only to pursue his creative endeavors. His motto was that he was just "another being creative." Rather than use this immense talent to better himself, Tony was extremely altruistic by nature. His real passion was working on projects for the Buffalo Field Campaign as well as grizzly protection. "He never really figured out how to make money. He really didn't care," said friend and co-worker Sasha Motivala.

For TGR, Tony acted as lead editor for the award-winning Sammy C Project and contributed to countless other projects over the last ten years.

Beyond his professional work, Tony will be missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to meet him. A GoFundMe has been created to assist in funeral costs. Any extra funds will be donated to the Buffalo Field Campaign.
