Shia meets with some fans on the road. Dan Rachlitz photo.
“Nothing behind me, everything ahead of me, as is ever so on the road.”
― Jack Kerouac, On the Road
Shia LaBeouf must have been reading a lot of Kerouac to inspire him for his latest "art project". The former child star/Transformers actor is hitchhiking around the United States for the next month using the hashtag #takemeanywhere. He will tweeting out the coordinates of where he is, and the next person to pick him up can literally take him anywhere.
The project will be made into a documentary that will be screened at the Finnish Institute in London and the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art. LaBeouf will not be alone as he is joined by Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner. Users can follow his progress live via an interactive map on VICE.
This is not the first time Shia has used the public for one of his art projects. The 29 year-old hung out in an elevator for 24 hours and also live-streamed his face while he watched all of his films in reverse chronological order. Although strange, these projects have this odd endearing quality. So keep your Twitter open if you want to hang with Shia this is your chance.
