With 1,700 left dead in the wake of the record-shattering heat wave sweeping through Europe, unprecedented temperatures have brought on a slew of complications that have left many more strung out and in distress. The heat has catalyzed the ignition of wildfires across much of Western and Southern Europe which are hitting earlier and harder than usual, and sometimes in unexpected areas. Additionally, the heat is putting tons of pressure on infrastructure as it is causing train tracks to bend, roadways to buckle and tarmacs to melt in the areas affected. As the heat pocket moves east, much of the western regions of the continent can expect a return to regular weather patterns in the coming days. The tangible indicators of climate change are becoming more and more violent and detrimental as this crisis continues to be exacerbated. We all must start taking care of mother earth before she takes care of all of us.
