Patagonia's 'tools for grassroots activist' is the how-to manual for anyone looking to affect change in their community.
This week, Patagonia released Tools for Grassroots Activism: Best Practices for Success in Environmental Movements - a guide to helping grassroots organizations be successful in the modern era. This book is the result of years of experience that Patagonia has in starting successful environmental campaigns. It also draws upon two decades of the Tools Conference, in which activist leaders and members from around the nation meet to discuss strategies and successes from their local grassroots movements.
According to a statement that accompanied the book's release,
Tools for Grassroots Activists is comprised of a collection of essays written by presenters from past conferences, including acclaimed activists such as Jane Goodall, Bill McKibbon, Wade Davis, Annie Leonard and Terry Tempest Williams. They offer pointed advice and best practices for grassroots advocacy, fundraising, marketing and communications, campaign strategy and social media, among other critical areas.
The environmental campaigns launched by grassroots organizations around the world are instrumental in protecting and preserving local ecosystems, native species and traditional ways of life. This book looks to be the blueprint for these smaller organizations in helping them towards critical progress in their arenas.
