Winter has arrived in California with Mammoth Mountain opening top-to-bottom today, becoming the first resort in state and the first major resort in the west to open. Following a series of early season storms that left a base of more than three feet at the summit, early season conditions in California's Eastern Sierra are excellent for the second year in a row.

The opening should serve as a celebration for skiers and snowboarders who like to "elevate" themselves. On election day the state voted 56% to 44% to pass Proposition 64, making recreational weed legal in the state. Keep it safe out there ladies and gents.
Highlights of the Opening Include:
- Open Top-to-Bottom thanks to excellent early season conditions
- 3 lifts, 9 runs (including three bowls) and 6 terrain features
- One of the larger crowds ever for an opener
- Mammoth is the first resort in California and the first major resort in the west to open
- A current base: 6-36"
