Kelly Slater Helps Beastie Boy With Stolen Boards

A boardless Mike D has borrowed a board from Catch Surf. CatchSurf photo via Instagram.

Beastie Boys rapper and founding member, Mike D, had a very bad day last weekend when 20 surfboards were stolen from his Malibu home.

“If you see any of these or any of the various boards that have my [bleeping] name on the stringer, A: grab the board, B: use a cable to bound that persons hands together, C: contact me and we will handle the rest,” he wrote on his private Instagram, according to Page Six. Some of the boards are valued at upwards of $1,000 so these bandits made off with a serious chunk of surfboard wealth.

Friend and now crime vigilante Kelly Slater took to Instagram to spread the word, calling for his followers help to locate the stolen boards.

The thieves are still at large, but that hasn't stopped Mike D from surfing.

Straying from his Beastie Boys rap career, Mike D turned to surfing later in life, and according to ABC, finds it to be "one of the few things" that captures his attention outside music.

"There's a lot to be said about getting into surfing later in life," D said. "If you're able to stay cool with that, and find the joy in it and getting over your insecurity about not being a super master at it, then that's a pretty cool thing."

Where did this story go? If you know Kelly Slater, then you probably know he posted about this. But nothing happened? So… Miss leading title and rambling about Mike D getting into surfing late?

- Hope he actually finds the boards. That would be a story.
