Jackson and Northern Hemisphere See First Snow of Season

JHMR’s Cody Bowl webcam from Monday morning.

Yeah, yeah, we know its still August, but seeing snow atop the Tram at JHMR gets us all pretty giddy. That's exactly what happened this morning, with our local webcams showing a nice layer of the white stuff atop Cody Bowl. Poking around the internet, it seems that we’re not alone, with Big SkyGlacier National Park, and a large swath of Austria and Italy saw their first taste of winter.

Powderchaser Steve’s Open Snow forecast reads:

“Colder air and below freezing temps will impact a large portion of Montana and northern Wyoming late this weekend. Moisture will be falling in most areas by midday Sunday. Your Monday morning wake up call will hint at light snow above 8,000 feet favoring southern Montana and northern Wyoming. Expect 2-4 inches in many upper elevation resorts with higher amounts possible at the summits. Another cool down is possible late next weekend. It’s all going to melt by mid-week but nevertheless it’s snow and a good reminder that Fall is around the corner. It's been a hot-dry summer so any relief is welcoming.”
